YOU FAIL TO SEE

You saw her today
With a book on her hand
And her head bowed down.

She doesn’t look much like the models on TV
Yet she’s beautiful,
but you fail to see.

You didn’t see her real beauty;
The way her eyes glow
when a friend said ‘Hi’,
And how she keeps her make-up light
For her heart doesn’t delight
in captivating every man’s sight.

You didn’t notice
because you only see what’s outside
Not her mind
that speaks about a knowledge and truth
that only few people realized.

You didn’t notice because she hides
From an image of a shy damsel
Who choose to say,
“Not I, but Christ.”

You saw him today
While he’s writing at the library
and focused on his daily duties.

He doesn’t look much like the cute guys on TV
Yet he’s handsome,
but you fail to see.

You didn’t see how gentle he is
As he opens the door for a stranger;
How he smiles at the jokes of his friends
And led his group for a prayer.

You didn’t notice
Because you only see what’s outside
Not his heart
that longs to glorify God with everything he does
And live His life for Him, at all cost.

You didn’t notice because he delights
On what is pleasant in God’s sight
And every day He lives his life saying:
“Let Your will be done in my life”

Oh people,
When will you ever going to realize
That real beauty is not defined by what’s outside.
Not even how you display yourself
Just to get the approval of someone else.
