You Are NOT Awesome

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” -ROMANS 3:10-18

NO ONE IS GOOD EXCEPT GOD (Mark 10:18)! Does this fact touch your ego? Then this blog entry is for you.

There’s this video that I saw on the internet that I was so upset about. I didn’t like the way he praised women as if we are the most awesome thing that ever step in this world. I don’t like it because it is self-celebrating and self-centered. And the worse thing is, women who saw that video loved it so much.

Why is it so hard for us to accept that no one is awesome except God? You might then say, “I am created by God, thus I am awesome.” That is the most selfish thing you could ever say. There is no good in us. WE ALL SINNED TO GOD! How’s that possible that you’ve become an exception and labeled yourself as someone awesome?

You see, there are so many people in this world that are so amazed about how God died on the cross without accepting the fact that one of the reasons it was done for His people is that NO ONE IS GOOD EXCEPT GOD! Because if there are really some of us who are good, Christ’s work on the Cross is not necessary. BUT IT IS! AND TAKING THAT FACT OUT OF OUR HISTORY IS LIKE TAKING THE ONLY HOPE LEFT FOR US. You jump for joy for the work done on Calvary, but deep inside an evil thought undermines you and made you think you are that much awesome because God died for you.

Just to make the record straight. JESUS CHRIST died for GOD. He died to redeemed what belongs to Him. He died to glorify Himself because we took by all means the glory that should have been for Him and Him alone. He died to let us know that no one can save us except Him. The main purpose of His crucifixion, is not to magnify our awesomeness! That’s the most pitiful thing you could ever say to yourself. He died because we are hopeless, and there’s nothing in us is awesome.

Without humble repentance and acceptance that we are all sinners, and whatever we do to make ourselves look good and awesome, we still cannot save ourselves! Christ’s work 2000 years ago will be as far as it is historically if you cannot internalize today the sinfulness you have within. The Cross should humble us down because without it, we all deserve wrath and fury from God. Yes, it’s an amazing love, but at the same time it should humble us down.

For women who are reading this, let us remember that there is nothing awesome in us. Let’s abhor any forms of praises that stir sinful pride in our lives. Many people might praise you for being beautiful and faithful servant of God, but let us remember to give all the praises back to God. If you celebrate any forms of praises to yourself, I think you should ask God to change the way you think of praises. It is sinful to always seek praises from people. God is the only One we should be praising to.

Just imagine what praise is. It is like the most expensive and most delicious chocolate bar you have ever seen but it belongs to Someone else. It is something you cannot resist even though who are on a diet. It takes so much courage not to be tempted with its presence. Don’t take a bite of something that belongs to God. It’s luscious appearance should humble you down and make you realize that you do not deserve it because it is pretty much awesome to be given to someone like you.

Erase the fact that your are awesome and you should be celebrated every single day. ONLY GOD IS AWESOME AND HE MUST BE WORSHIPED EVERYDAY.

Humble yourselves before the LORD, and He will exalt you. -James 4:10

Shift the emphasis from you to Him. 🙂

God bless you.

All glory belongs to God alone.
