“Let us watch against pride in every shape – pride of intellect, pride of wealth, pride of our own goodness. Nothing is so likely to keep a person out of heaven, and prevent them from seeing Christ, as pride. So long as we think we are something we shall never be saved. Let us pray for and cultivate humility; let us seek to know ourselves correctly, and to find out our place in the sight of a holy God.” ~ J.C. Ryle
J.C Ryle is one of my favorite writers, and his words above remind me of this verse:
1 John 2:15-17: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
PRIDE. A parasite living in a carnal mind. If you are not aware you have this, you will suffer the rest of your life quenching the works of God inside of you.
Surrender everything to the LORD! We are nothing if we don’t have Him. His holy presence should fill us with a feeling of humility and NOT pride.
Check your heart. Check your mind. Surrender those things that will be able to hinder your walk with God.
God bless you.
